Venus slips back into Virgo on November 5. The new Moon follows.
Libra hosts the new Moon while its own planet sits in its weakest sign. Here is the map for the two weeks that follow.
On Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 2:34 PM Eastern Time, Venus moves backward out of Libra and back into Virgo. Four days later, on Monday, November 9, at 2:02 AM Eastern, the Moon meets the Sun in Libra, and that meeting is the new Moon.
The pairing matters because Venus rules Libra: the sign hosts the Sun and Moon while its own planet is away, in the one sign where Venus is at its weakest. Venus stays in Virgo for 16 days and 16 hours, until 6:51 AM Eastern on Sunday, November 22.
Why Virgo weakens Venus
Every planet has a sign of debilitation, the place in the zodiac where it works with the least ease. For Venus that sign is Virgo, and its deepest point sits near the end of the sign. Venus is the planet of love, partnership, art, beauty and comfort, so those are the themes that lose their footing.
This visit stays close to that low point, because Venus enters Virgo at its very last degree and, moving backward, turns forward again before it has left the sign’s final two degrees. The tradition also treats the last five degrees of any sign as a planet’s old age, when it delivers less, and Venus spends the entire visit there.
The Systems’ Approach, the method behind every Star & Root reading, is strict here. Some schools let other factors cancel a debilitation; this method does not. A debilitated planet is weak, and the interpretation starts from that.
The Sun is weak in Libra too
Venus is not the only planet out of its element. Libra is the Sun’s own sign of debilitation, and the Sun has been there since October 17; it leaves for Scorpio at 9:13 AM Eastern on November 16.
On the night of the new Moon, Mars sits near the end of Cancer, almost exactly on its own deepest point of debilitation. Three planets are in their signs of debilitation at once, the Sun, Venus and Mars, and that is terrain that rewards patience over force.
What the new Moon is, and is not
Many traditions read a new Moon as a moment to plant seeds. The Systems’ Approach does not treat the phases of the Moon as events in their own right. It reads the Moon as one more moving planet, judged by what it governs in your particular chart.
So treat November 9 as a marker, not a launch signal. The darkest night of the month falls in a sign whose ruler is weak, under a weak Sun, which makes it a better night for taking stock than for beginning.
November 13: two planets turn forward
Mercury has been moving backward through Libra since October 24, and Venus has been moving backward since October 3. Both turn forward on Friday, November 13: Mercury at 10:54 AM Eastern and Venus at 7:30 PM Eastern.
When a planet appears to move backward, the method’s guidance is to revisit, review and refine rather than launch. Mercury governs contracts, messages and commerce, while Venus governs agreements of the heart, design and the things we buy for pleasure.
Until the 13th, review those matters. Until the 22nd, when Venus is back in Libra, hold the big new commitments if you can.

What it means for your rising sign
Your rising sign decides which part of your life Virgo and Libra govern, and whether Venus works for your chart or against it. Find yours below.
- Aries rising: Partnership questions land in the daily grind, so fix the routine first and save new promises to a partner for after November 22.
- Taurus rising: Venus works against your sign, and this month it is weak, so friction at work has less grip until November 22. Put the energy into a creative project you can revise.
- Gemini rising: Creative and learning plans move home for two weeks, so finish an old project at your own desk before you start a new one.
- Cancer rising: Home matters show up in your messages, so draft the difficult note about family now, then reread it after November 13 before you send it.
- Leo rising: Money and family conversations need a softer voice, so review spending on comforts and hold large purchases until after November 22.
- Virgo rising: Venus sits on your own sign, weakened, while a weak Sun crosses your money area, so check every bill twice before November 16.
- Libra rising: Venus, the planet of your own sign, slips into the area of rest and spending, so rest more, spend less and let a personal decision wait until November 22.
- Scorpio rising: Venus works against your sign, but it is weak this month, so spending pressure eases until November 22; use the quiet to review what you want from friends and groups.
- Sagittarius rising: Gains and career cross paths, so revisit an offer or a client you set aside, rather than pitching someone new, until November 22.
- Capricorn rising: Career questions meet your beliefs, so ask a mentor before you act, and keep disputes with authority low until November 16.
- Aquarius rising: Venus enters the area of sudden change, obstructions and inheritance, so allow for delays and sign nothing new before November 22.
- Pisces rising: Two planets that work against your sign are weak at once, which softens their pressure. Keep partnership conversations patient, and do not force an answer before November 16, when the Sun leaves Libra.
Practitioner note
Venus is debilitated in Virgo and in old age (28°37′ to 29°59′) for the whole visit, and outside combustion. It was within 10 degrees of the Sun from the afternoon of October 17 to the morning of October 30 (Eastern).
Venus’s mooltrikona sign, Libra, falls in H6 for Taurus lagna, H12 for Scorpio and H8 for Pisces, so Venus is a functional malefic for those three. The Sun’s mooltrikona, Leo, falls in H12 for Virgo, H8 for Capricorn and H6 for Pisces. For Aquarius lagna, Venus transits H8, a further weakness for a functional benefic. No neechabhanga is applied.
The forecast is not the weather
A forecast does not make the rain; it tells you when to carry an umbrella. Foreknowledge is not fate: it is the difference between a navigator and a passenger.
The general map above counts the twelve areas of life, the houses, from your rising sign alone. Your own birth chart adds the planets you were born with, and the particular season of life you are in now. The Life Chart maps those in full.
The monthly sky follows moves like this one, month by month, for your rising sign.
